Warung Nasi Pariaman
Often lauded as the mainstay of Nasi Padang in Singapore, Warong Nasi Pariaman is the place you’d want to hit up for all your Nasi Padang (Indonesian meal of steamed rice served with various pre-cooked dishes) favourites and the occasional spotting of Malay celebrities.
Must-eats here include the smoky and spicy Ayam Bakar (roasted chicken, $5.50) in a creamy coconut milk gravy, the crunchy Sambal Goreng ($1 per serving) and the fragrant Beef Rendang (beef stew with coconut milk and spices, $3.50 per serving). Apparently this eatery is one of the country’s longest surviving Nasi Padang stalls dating back to 1948. If you’re visiting in a group, there’s also set menus available starting from $49 for 4 pax to $89 for 8 pax.
