The restaurant boasts an array of exquisite thai dishes and an extensive winelist. Together with an outdoor terrace, the restaurant is a perfect spot for fine dining and people watching.

Arun Thai in Hongkong is the sister restaurant of ArunThai in Sydney, Australia – one of the city’s longest established and most highly acclaimed Thai Restaurants that was founded by Celebrity Chef Kham Signavong nearly two decades ago.

ABOUT ROYAL THAI CUISINE

One of the most important aspects of Thailand’s cultural heritage, Royal Thai Cuisine differs quite markedly from what is normally eaten in everyday life in Thailand.

Of the many differences between the two, perhaps the most significant is the meticulous attention to every step of selection, preparation, cooking, and presentation of the food. This means that meats and seafoods are deboned, thoroughly cleaned and neatly cut before cooking, and vegetables are finely sliced and cut into perfectly bit-sized pieces. This attention to detail is carried through in the arrangement and presentation of the food on the plate. There is a belief that dining like royalty, one benefits from all the harmony and blessings that comes from consuming such regal treats.

FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE CHEF

As well as being the founder of one of Sydney’s longest established and most highly acclaimed Thai Restaurants, Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur Chef Kham Signavong is an accomplished television presenter and author. Born on the banks of Thailand’s mighty Mekong River and brought up in the country’s North East Isan Region, it was the family kitchen where Chef Kham gained his earliest introduction to traditional Thai cooking; his skill in combining seasonal produce whilst maintaining the unique balance of flavours that define Thai cuisine remaining at the core of his personal style.

Pursuing his culinary passion, Chef Kham moved to Sydney, Australia where in the 80’s, he founded ArunThai – one of the cities most lauded Restaurants. Named after the Wat Arun temple on the banks of the Chao Phrayha in Bangkok, the restaurant has consistently been awarded accolades including “Thai Select” accreditation by the Thailand Ministry of Commerce.

A badge of honour given to restaurants outside Thailand in recognition of their culinary authenticity and service standards.

Chef Kham’s passion for authenticity is plainly evident in the Royal Thai Cuisine that Arun Thai serves. Using Classic Thai flavours, his recipes balance tradition with a fresh, modern approach to presentation that reflects his unique contemporary edge. Such is the popularity of his style that in addition to appearing in many major magazines and newspapers internationally.

Chef Kham is a regular on television cookery shows and has written and contributed to several top selling Thai Cook Book that highlight the various traditional Thai recipes created in his restaurant as well as his homeland.
