Gingko House

In 1998, a group of experienced social workers founded the “ Everbright Groups Ltd.”, striving to provide quality care for the elderly and rehabilitation services, with a service mission of “Client-Oriented, Holistic Development.”
However, “Everbright Groups” has a much broader vision --- “Generate Welfare By Engaging In Business”. When looking at the existing welfare services of Hong Kong, the providers one-sidedly rely on government subsidies, therefore, when facing the needs of the society, they are not as proactive.
In 2002,” Everbright Groups” allotted the earnings from their business to set up “Everbright Concern Action” and was approved by the Hong Kong Government as a charitable organization. This is the first step of “Everbright Groups” in giving back to the society.
This innovative service concept paved the way for our marching forward. In 2005, “Everbright Concern Action” opened up Gingko House Restaurant – a restaurant run by the elderly within its social service center in Wong Tai Sin District. It is hoped that the restaurant can provide a suitable working environment and an employment opportunity for those needy elderly that are in lack of support or wish to work at this age to well spend their time in the latter part of their lives and to regain self-confidence.
Because Gingko House is unique in its social objective, it is well-received by the locals and can provide job opportunities to those with financial or psychological needs and so there are a lot of successful cases. In order to benefit more elderly, in 2006, Gingko House marched into Gough Street in Central, with an aim of providing “5-star delicacies, 5-star service” high class French-Italian cuisine. We expect to offer a flawless, extraordinary excellent service to our customers who would feel very much at home.
With the support of different sectors of the society and the hard work of the elderly staff, in 2008, Gingko House set up a second French-Italian restaurant in Jordan District. And in 2009 the first Chinese restaurant featuring organic vegetables and double-boiled soup was set up in Prince Edward District.
