Lok Heung Yuen is a celebrated "snake pit" for office workers in Central. That's Cantonese slang for a hangout where people slack off from work.

These slackers know their cheap eats -- Lok Heung Yuen makes one-of-a-kind baked pies, all for under HK$10.

The best is the "mix pie" (HK$7), a hefty filling of pork and boiled egg encased in a sweet cookie-like pastry. It's sugary and meaty at once, perfect with a cup of hot milk tea.

The compact bite can sit easily in a child's palm, but it's heavy enough to sit in your stomach for hours. Or at least until your next well-deserved "short" break from the office.
