Hanagushi Yakitori Japanese Restaurant 花串日本料理

Firstly, a fairly attractive restaurant but the lighting is poor... nothing "mood" about it. The service was horrible... a lot of frenetic running around by staff all talking into some sort of device but the food just didn't come out in any timely fashion.

The food... well presented but a non-Japanese interpretation of Japanese food (I worked in Japan for years). The problem is if you're dining alone, which I was, is that every order is comprised of two pieces. It would have been nice if I could have ordered one stick of more types of food.

Even though the food was well prepared, it was expensive for what it was. There is also no graciousness about the restaurant. I wanted more sake but was told the kitchen had closed. I explained I didn't need anything cooked, just more sake so they relented. However, before I was finished I was told I would have to leave since the restaurant was closing (there were a number of other diners in the place).

Overall, don't rush here since there are other yakitori places in Hong Kong that are more charming and better priced.
