Amoy Street Food Centre
Amoy Street Food Centre is one of a handful of hawker centres in the Central Business District that offers good, affordable food. That would explain why it is always crowded during lunchtime (the only time most of the stalls are open).
Built in 1983, the hawker centre has seen at least two rounds of renovations and it is still evolving. It is not only home to classic hawker dishes such as char kway teow (stir-fried rice noodles) and lor mee (noodles in starchy braised gravy), its tenants also include a salad shop, a muffin shop, and a Singapore-style ramen stall. The last of these new-generation stalls was a winner in the HungryGoWhere Eat-lections 2015.
