Tai Ping Koon Restaurant (Mau Lam Street)

Tai Ping Koon restaurant was founded in 1860 (Qing Dynasty-10th year of Xianfeng). Our founder, Mr. Chui Lo Ko, originally worked as a Chef in a western trading company in Guangzhou and his specialties were western dishes. Later Mr. Chui opened his own restaurant in Tai Ping Sha, Guangzhou and he named it after the place. It was the first restaurant in Guangzhou specializing in western cuisine. The most special dishes: roast pigeon, smoked promfret, Portugese style baked chicken and Swiss sauce chicken wings became very famous in Southern Guangdong. The well-known customer including Zhou Enlai, Chiang Kai-shek. From Guangzhou to Hong Kong, Tai Ping Koon restaurant is still run by the same Chui family after more than one hundred years.
