P.R.C Ristorante & Caffe
P.R.C. Ristorante & Caffe is a small but surprisingly good 'Western' restaurant tucked away on the street-level shop at Sunshine City Block N off On Shing Street in Ma On Shan.
Note: Best to use the restaurant map on openrice.com instead of this one on TripAdvisor which places the restaurant in the incorrect area of Ma On Shan.
The restaurant has seating space for 20-24 diners and is usually quite full so don't be surprised if you have to wait for a table if trying to dine at main lunch or dinner periods.
They serve a range of pastas, risotto, a few pizza types and mains expectedly featured in Continental bistros. You can order set meals during lunch or from their a la carte menu.
Prices are at the high end for Chinese operated 'Western' restaurants outside of TST and Hong Kong Island but the dishes we have tried here are surprisingly good. Recently enjoyed a Parma Risotto (HK$105) that was quite tasty. Parma was not too salty which prevented it from overpowering the risotto served with white cream sauce.
We also had the Codfish with truffle fettuccine (HK$178) that was very good. Cod was baked well with a flaky texture. Pasta was perfect and tasted delicious with the bits of black truffle, balanced very well with the codfish. In the end, both dishes were very good, nothing short or what we would expect at good 'Western' restaurants in the expat and tourist areas of Hong Kong.
At present, this is the best 'Western' restaurant in Ma On Shan. It is pricier than other mid-range and fast food options you can find within the Sunshine City shopping mall but the dishes are much, much nicer.
